Juneau blanc
Juneau blanc is Chenibec's brother. It also originates from the same cross with the Chenin blanc grape variety. Despite its hardiness, it requires a long growing season on a plot sheltered from the prevailing winds in zone 4a. This makes this grape variety uninteresting in zone 4a. On the sites further south, it will ripen before the Vinifera grape varieties. It is semi-late bud break, with medium vigor and high fertility. Grape variety has port erected. The Cluster is of medium size, conical shape with one or 2 fins, moderately compact, like the Chenin blanc cluster. The berry is of medium size, elliptical shape and has a thick skin, protecting it from diseases and late frosts. Very good resistance to diseases, such as gray rot and black rot. Grapes of golden yellow color when ripe, with a fruity, vinous and very juicy taste, containing very few seeds and are small in size. It produces an aromatic, honeyed wine, with a very typical nose of Chenin blanc. The natural acidity of the grape variety, allows the elaboration of sparkling wines, and vinified in into ice wine.
